Stitch of the Week Algerian Eyes

Here is a quick tutorial on the “Algerian Eye” (also called Algerian Eyelets) which is commonly found in hardanger patterns. It sounds complicated, but is really quite simple and very beautiful. The finished product resembles a simple snowflake or star. Start in the corner by bringing your needle up from the bottom through the hole. (Make sure your thread is secured in the back to prevent pull through.) Count 4 holes (or 2 stitches) diagonally to find the center and push needle down into the hole.
