Toile
I stitched my first piece in 1982-1983. I didn’t stitch again until I retired in 2016. I’m now 72. This piece was inspired by Richard Saja. He stitches on Toile stitching only people that are part of a vingette, leaving the rest unstitched. He turns people into clowns, monsters, etc. I have chosen to stitch the entire vingette where I change things or add things that don’t belong to time or place. The fabric is Waverly wool printed with the Toile pattern Idyllic Days. I stitched with DMC Cotton Perle #5 throughout. By the time I was done, I has a huge/deep callous on my thumb.
