No Cross Stitch Police

Did you know there is no such thing as the "Cross-Stitch Police." So let's change up your pattern.

No one said you had to do it on the fabric the model was stitched on or even with those colors listed. So switch up your pattern to look any way you want! You can add extra bling (which is always a good idea) or add buttons or even charms. Choose a super cool hand dyed fabric that accentuates the design.

I have even changed the directions the design was facing. Years ago, I was stitching a Sorcerer and Sorceress but I wanted them facing each other. So when, I was making my working copy, I reversed it. Of course you have to remember to take a reverse copy of the key as well because now all the symbols are backwards. But it turned out great and I love the results!

We have some perfect examples in our Project of the Month Gallery, showing that changing the fabric & floss creates a whole different design unique to the person stitching it.

Comment and let me know how changing floss or fabric has worked for you.

Happy Stitching!

It really depends on the pattern. There are some patterns I love just the way they are and others that I change just a little bit to suit me. Then there are the patterns I never ever would stitch if there wasn't a lot of changes. It's always fun to see how stitchers change a design :)

I love seeing the creativity of the ladies at Stitch Night! I have yet to see two Projects of the Month done in exactly the same way.
