Trust in the Lord Hardanger

This booklet includes a short and long version of the pattern. The long version contains the words, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Lean not onto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him. He shall direct thy path."

There is also a beautiful lacy embellishment, which is perfect for a pillow and free standing lace doilies.

Doxology

This is a counted cross stitch interpretation of a antique perforated paper design. The original can be found in the Rock Chapel in the Pioneer Village at Lagoon, Utah.

Lagoon is an amusement park located in Farmington, Utah. Pioneer Village is an award-winning collection of exhibits. Time unfolds into Utah's past as Pioneer Village turns back on the Twentieth Century and steps into a country town of 130 years ago. Here is a center of living history which brings to life the way people lived during the first years of Utah’s existence.

The Rock Chapel stands at the head of Pioneer Village. It was originally located in Coalville, Utah.  In 1853 the building was first used as a fort against indians, then it became a courthouse, a schoolhouse and, in 1857, a church.  It was dismantled in Coalville and transported stone by stone to its new location and constructed in its original condition. The original perforated paper sampler of Doxology is currently on exhibit in the Rock Chapel.

As you work on this project, you will not find many of the individual elements of modern counted cross stitch. There are very few letters that are identical, and the spacing between letters and lines are inconsistent. We think the beauty of this design is found in its rhythm, total balance, and symmetry.
