Spring and Beyond

I have admired all the varieties of these on the internet but always come away dreading all the sewing. So I put on my in-the-hoop thinking cap, dragged out my dusty geometry skills, and here is my solution, all decked out for spring, in 2 sizes! This wreath/centerpiece (6"x7" or greater hoop required for the small size; 8"x9" or greater for the large size) is done almost entirely in the hoop (1 seam at the very end of the project requires traditional sewing).

The project (finished size 15 1/2" diameter small; 18 1/2" diameter large) is completed using 3 design files and features front and back fabrics, lightweight fusible batting and an extra layer of thin dense batting. The detail stitching consists of a diamond quilting pattern combined with motif stitching on the flower petals.

And the result? As you can see in the photos, it's a wonderful Easter/spring centerpiece, but add a decorative center and hanging loop and you have a cheerful welcoming wreath. And food for thought...patriotic fabrics for a pinwheel effect, Christmas fabrics for a poinsettia effect, winter fabrics for a snowflake effect...you get the idea (o; It's truly a Spring and Beyond project! Additionally, there is an outer edge contrast border which is attached just like quilt binding, but in the hoop!
